UNC Hospitals 3-Bed Tower Medical Progressive Care Unit

MHAworks was commissioned to demolish and renovate the 18,600-square-foot bed tower, located in UNC Hospitals, to an upgraded private-patient unit with closed-off washrooms.

The Medical Progressive Care Unit is equipped with 24 beds, two isolation rooms, an ICU, nurses station, and storage space. The upgraded facility fits the needs and wants of all user groups involved. In addition, the 3-Bed Tower Patient Unit houses a private waiting area, containing a consulting room and sky factory lighting that gives it a modern aesthetic.
