Last week, MHAworks attended a ribbon-cutting ceremony at Pitt Community College to celebrate the official opening of the Eddie & Jo Allison Smith Center for Student Advancement. This newly constructed student center houses several of Pitt Community College’s student service programs.
The 28,000 square foot building contains a 3,000 square foot event space on the first floor that can be divided into two separate rooms as well as a smaller meeting that can serve as a pre-function space. The second floor provides an array of administrative and student affairs offices including the Student Resource Center, Vision’s Center, Veteran’s Center, and Student Scholarship Offices.
“We are excited to have helped Pitt Community College realize their vision for creating a building to house many of their specialized student support programs,” said Matthew Johnson, MHAworks’ Greenville office co-director and principal in charge. “This center was designed to celebrate academic achievements and to serve as a designated space for students to seek support. We hope that by giving each of these services a centralized location on campus, students’ overall experience at PCC is enriched.”
“The opening of the new Center for Student Advancement has been a proud moment for our team of designers and engineers,” said Amy Spruill, MHAworks’ Greenville office co-director and project manager. “The positive impacts of this new center will not only be felt on PCC’s campus, but throughout eastern North Carolina. We are grateful to have been a part of helping this center become a reality.”
