MHAworks Prepares The Blue Light Living for Residents With Social Distancing Guides

Nov 05 2020

As Duke University prepared for the return of students to campus this fall during the global pandemic, MHAworks and the owners of The Blue Light Living student apartments were preparing to ensure the safety and well-being of their occupants.

In anticipation of the completion of the 80-unit building nestled between to Duke’s main and east campuses and an early August student move in date, MHAworks was tasked in May with creating a social distancing plan that could be easily implemented on a tight deadline. As a result, custom acrylic screens were installed at the lobby reception desk and hand-sanitizing stations were set up at each level. In addition, signage coordinating with the project’s branding package was installed on floors and at elevators to create visual boundaries and serve as reminders to the occupants.

As shown through in the Blue Light Living, MHAworks is now providing knowledge-based design services to assist our clients to, not only providing a safe environment for their residents and guests, but to also create adaptable spaces that are pandemic-ready for the future. Our team of interior designers can assist with a wide range of services to create a safe living space, including space planning, modifying floorplans, reworking paths of travel, and installation of protective screens.
