Ronald McDonald House of Chapel Hill

MHAworks played a key role in the establishment of the 20,000-square-foot Ronald McDonald Residential Support Facility in Chapel Hill, North Carolina. This initial project provides a variety of guest suites, bedrooms, bathrooms, kitchens, and gathering spaces for the families of patients who cannot afford a hotel.

Our second project with the Ronald McDonald House created a 27,000-square-foot addition to the existing facility, providing new extended-stay care, expanding opportunities for short-term stays, and introducing a new palliative care program. The expansion included the addition of several administrative suites that provide family support services, a new multipurpose space that is used as dining hall and events space, 16 long-term rooms and suites, four palliative care suites, and four short-term stay rooms. With a combination of simple and durable construction techniques, this space contains detailing that contributes to a comfortable, homelike environment for guests as they get through their unique situations.
