Proctor-Yongue House

MHAworks renovated the Proctor-Yongue House, a historic single-family residence built in 1917, into an office space for East Carolina University’s (ECU) Administration. Following the completion of renovations, The City of Greenville Historic Preservation Commission awarded MHAworks and ECU the 2019 Architectural Award for Restoration Excellence.

Renovations to the house were completed in two phases. The first phase of renovations concentrated on ADA-compliant access at the covered back porch, the stabilization of the front porch, removal of existing vinyl siding, restoration of the original wood siding and trim, and the installation of energy-efficient windows and new roofing. The second phase of renovations concentrated on addressing all life safety requirements, an ADA-compliant restroom, replacement of mechanical, electrical and plumbing  building systems, replacing the interior finishes, and the addition of a kitchenette on the ground floor.
