Michael J. Hining, AIA, NCARB Founder and President
Mr. Hining founded Michael Hining Architects in 1988. With over thirty years
of diversified architectural experience, Mr. Hining has grown the firm to a
staff of 27 with design expertise in healthcare, educational facilities,
government, worship facilities, commercial office building, and
interiors. His relationships and work experience with a variety of development,
architectural, engineering firms and contractors permitted his acquiring skills
that balance technical and aesthetic values with economic realities.
Mr. Hining's strongest skills lie in the control and management of the various
phases of an architectural project. Service Excellence, a dedication to client
service, is the trademark of his work.
In 2004 the name of the firm was changed to MHAworks. MHAworks is the next
generation of leading design and architecture. While Mr. Hining still remains
as an active principal, the goal is to bring forward the design and management
talents of key leaders in the firm.

Barry Hill, AIA Senior Vice President Senior Project Architect
Mr. Hill has developed design and communication skills over his twenty-five year professional career that serve
to expedite the design and construction processes. The client's needs and desires are accurately identified,
then reconciled with the constraints of site, time, and budget. Mr. Hill is experienced with the requirements
of the municipal government development and review processes and is well versed in working with local community
members to design facilities that meet their needs.
Mr. Hill is active in all phases of project development so that special insights into the function or construction
of a project are carried through from concept drawings to construction drawings.

Kenneth R. Trivette, AIA, NCARB Senior Vice President Director of Greenville Office
As a Principal of MHAworks, Mr. Trivette is involved in directing multiple projects, and heads up the MHAworks
Greenville office. Involved in planning, design and construction administration since 1980, Mr. Trivette brings a
wealth of experience in many areas including programming, preliminary cost estimating, schematic design, construction
document production, and construction contract administration.

David H. Clinton, AIA, NCARB, REFP Senior Vice President Director of Educational Design Studio
Mr. Clinton is the primary client contact for the firm's educational design projects, and works closely with administrators, faculty,
and boards. His continued association with the same clients for over a decade is testament to the success of his service. His
responsiveness in problem solving, project expediting, and coordinating with construction and project management firms have significantly
aided his clients. Whereas, Mr. Clinton's specialty lies in the design of educational facilities, he also has an extensive medical
and worship facility design background. Mr. Clinton serves on the Town of Carrboro Planning Board.
